Region Jazz
I don't think that the JV Jazz Band is going to go to state. I've heard that we can only take one band to state. Plus the way that we are playing is not good at all especially this close to region. In Soon it's going to rain, half of us don't know our parts, if we do know our parts then we don't play them out.
I do think however that the Varsity Jazz band has a good chance. The songs that they are playing sound really good (from what i've heard) and most of them are not afraid to play out and to really kick butt. I hope that they do really well because if any one of our Jazz band's are going it is going to be them.

Hey Marci, cheer up. Mr. Morrise is an ass, I totally agree. He should have taught you guys better. The only one that people will remember looking bad will be Mr. Morrise. All the teachers will know him as the teach that doesn't teach. I'd be really surprised if the Varsity Jazz made it to state. I love ya like a sister! You're awesome!
Thanks Jill, Love yeah too!!
I think you're right about JV bands not going to state. It is mainly a playing experience for them. I'm sorry I've been awefully down on you guys. When I stop and realize what we have there I think it is pretty good. For all intents and purposes JV band is a junior high band. You and Kayce have only been playing a year or less right? The entire brass section is in 9th grade. So maybe I've pushed you all a little to hard. I can't agree that it is my job to teach you your parts though. I know everyone could have done better at learning their own parts. Confidence comes with experience, performing and practice experience.
I think Varsity is sounding pretty good too. This is why I've given them more time lately. I don't want to cheat them of their chance to do well. I hope you and all the JV players will understand that I and think you would want that same attention were you in their shoes.
A word about State Jazz. Since our school hasn't gone to State Jazz in about 7-8 years, I don't understand why this has become such a hot topic. I don't really think that is where our focus should be. Maybe that's my fault. It's all a learning experience. I don't believe our school has entered a JV band before so no one could tell me the advantages/disadvantages. This I know, it has pulled away some of our time to work six songs instead of three. Would you rather I just cut all JV players from the band? I don't like that idea at all. Furthermore, I know I've been harping on this but, we could have done much more had we all been in our seats at 7am. I know you personally have been there on time and I thank you for making that effort. Wish we could have all been like you.
